Guitarist Bill Kirchen is coming to Whippany on Jan. 16.

It seems like all I've been doing lately is providing links to stories written by other people -- and today is no different!

But don't fret -- I'm merely saving up my rapier wit for a frightening blast of rampant first-person pyrotechnics!

Anyway, here's a story by a Bill (Bill Nutt) about a Bill (Bill Kirchen). Kirchen is best known as the guitarist for Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen during that band's heyday.

His quality rockabilly playing can be heard in the band's 1971 (some say 1972) hit, "Hot Rod Lincoln." He's also recorded with Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello in recent years.

I contacted Kirchen to get a photo for the Bill Nutt story (He sent me the photo that I used at the top of this blog post). In my e-mail to him, I mentioned that I love playing guitar on "Hot Rod Lincoln" live with The Blue Meanies, which is true.

He replied, "I'm a regular supermarket of used licks. You're welcome to 'em all."

And so are you!

Here's Bill Nutt's story:
